Multiple Mail outs

I know there is way to send out multiple emails, however the issue I am finding is if you close the window when you click send out emails then obviously it stops.
Is there anyway around this or a way to show X out of X emails sent so you can at least see where it is up to. Especially when you are sending out a lot of emails.
I don’t want to use mail chimp and I need to keep it within the website.
