What's New

Wappler 7.9.2 is a major polish and guidance release focused on helping users get productive faster across both modern web and mobile projects. The guided docs and tours have been reorganized into much clearer learning paths, the Dynamic Real Estate and Framework7 Kitchen Sink demos have both been modernized into stronger and more practical showcases, and the generated reference docs now cover more than 1,100 pages across Framework7, Bootstrap 5, App Connect, and Server Connect.

This update also smooths out a long list of everyday workflows. Project switching is cleaner, local-server bootstrap is more reliable, Theme Manager and page/framework setup are sturdier, and first-time mobile setup is easier thanks to a cleaner Capacitor-first Framework7 flow. Version updates in this release include Framework7 8.3.4 and Server Connect NodeJS 2.8.3.

What's New

  • Reorganized Wappler Docs & Tours into clearer routes for Getting Started, Architecture, How-To Guides, Reference, Switching, and product-area exploration, so it is much easier to choose the right next step.
  • Expanded hands-on coverage across pages, routing, security, Server Connect, App Connect, Git, database work, hosting, and theme workflows, with better handoffs from first success into deeper topics.
  • Rebuilt the live Dynamic Real Estate learning path around the current server-backed EJS demo, with connected walkthroughs for listings, detail pages, and inquiry flows.
  • Added a fully modernized Framework7 8 Kitchen Sink mobile template and demo, with stronger Wappler integration, cleaner routing and layout behavior, and a smoother first-time Capacitor setup.
  • Greatly expanded generated reference documentation with more than 1,100 guided reference pages and broader coverage across Framework7, Bootstrap 5, App Connect, and Server Connect.
  • Improved project switching, local-server bootstrap, Theme Manager startup, and page/framework setup so common workflows feel smoother and more reliable.

Docs, Tours, And Learning Paths

  • Reworked the main docs index into clearer paths for Getting Started, Architecture, How-To Guides, Reference, and Switching.
  • Added a dedicated Architecture route so users can understand the bigger Wappler model before diving into product-specific areas.
  • Simplified hub titles, intro copy, menu headings, route badges, and guided endings so hubs explain decisions more clearly and tours hand off to the right next step.
  • Added explicit hub metadata so hub listings show Hub immediately across the in-app runtime and exported docs.
  • Refined major product-area hub families including Workflows, App Connect, Server Connect, Routing, Pages, Project Manager, Publish Manager, Git Manager, Database Manager, and Resource Manager so they feel like clear navigation surfaces instead of generic indexes.
  • Improved deeper reference and demo-project hubs so users can jump into real examples, searchable reference collections, and practical editor paths with less friction.
  • Reconnected previously isolated tours into the main learning structure, making topics such as AI comparisons, shortcut keys, SPA flows, desktop apps, installs, and migration guides easier to discover from the right places.
  • Kept navigation more consistent between guided paths, recipe-style tours, and reference hubs, so users can switch learning modes without losing context.
  • Strengthened beginner onboarding with clearer paths through setup, the first project, the first page, dynamic data, the first server action, preview, publish, and the next learning step.
  • Added onboarding and transition guidance for downloading Wappler, creating desktop apps, and migrating an existing Dreamweaver site into a cleaner Wappler workflow.
  • Expanded Project Manager guidance with a clearer guided start, stronger setup guidance, practical project-creation coverage, a better panel reference path, Git cloning, cleaner project switching, extension-channel guidance, framework-reset guidance, and a new Your First Wappler Project tour.
  • Expanded the Pages learning path from Pages Manager orientation into starter pages, layout pages, routed content pages, server-rendered pages and layouts, SPA choices, URL rewriting, and clearer Routing Manager coverage.
  • Expanded Security and Login into a fuller guided path across provider setup, login flow, page restriction, routed layout security, session-aware server logic, and a new Securing Routed Pages and Layouts tour.
  • Expanded the Server Connect Editor tour family across overview, core concepts, action structure, adding steps, properties, inputs, control flow, database actions, practical Demo Projects HQ walkthroughs, custom SQL queries, and debugging Server Connect errors.
  • Added practical new topic tours for Shortcut Keys, Using shortcut keys for dynamic events, Expression Builder, Network & Live Data Panels, Web and Database Server Outputs, CSS Panel, and Nested repeats.
  • Added clearer Git and deployment guidance with Git Branches, Revert Changes (Go Back in Time), and Deploy to Heroku.
  • Expanded Theme Manager coverage with a clearer guided overview, stronger advanced workflow guidance, and better Bootstrap 5 setup, preview, build, validation, and upload handoffs.

Database, Data, And Hosting Workflows

  • Added Schema Changes, Migrations, and Target Strategy to connect schema design decisions to publish-ready deployment changes.
  • Added Managing Cloud Servers with Resource Manager and a dedicated Resource Manager hub so infrastructure setup, server resources, project targets, and publishing are easier to follow as one story.
  • Added clearer guidance for provider handoff, managed databases, SSH-key setup, and when to share a database across targets versus when separate databases are the safer long-term choice.
  • Updated Editing Database Data to follow the real View/Edit Data context-menu workflow on a live table.
  • Updated Database Manager Reference so its tree navigation and context-menu coverage better matches the live manager state.
  • Added Seeds, Templates, and Change History so reusable data setup, schema helpers, and migration history are explained as one connected workflow.
  • Improved live targeting inside Database Manager so table-focused tours behave more reliably against visible labels.
  • Added API Data Source, API Connector (REST and cURL), Caching API Data, JSON Data, and Using Session Variables, and updated the API and JSON hub so data and API topics are easier to discover from the guided path.

Modernized Demos And Mobile

  • Rebuilt the Demo Dynamic Real Estate Site overview tour so it now follows the live server-backed EJS demo instead of the older static sample.
  • Added a connected tour set for the Real Estate demo covering the listings page, listing detail page, and inquiry form, including Data View filtering and sorting, synchronized map output, charts, route-driven record loading, gallery swiper and lightbox usage, repeated detail sections, map binding, availability-aware date picking, and Server Connect form submission with success and error states.
  • Expanded the Dynamic Real Estate demo catalog to 12 listings across waterfront, urban, and suburban markets, with richer neighborhoods, agents, property types, locations, prices, market data, room-by-room plans, categorized photo notes, amenities, status labels, highlights, coordinates, and agent assignments.
  • Added new local property, interior, surroundings, and agent imagery, broader listing filters, richer real-estate charts, App Connect Typed in the home hero, App Connect Lightbox in listing galleries, expanded featured listings, smoother gallery notes, updated SQLite seed data, and the required App Connect includes, while keeping the template fully dynamic with Node.js views, Server Connect APIs, SQLite data, local assets, and Bootstrap 5.3.8 styling.
  • Added a fully modernized Wappler Framework7 Kitchen Sink mobile template based on the latest Framework7 8 kitchen sink and synced it with current upstream pages, routes, assets, and styling.
  • Rebuilt the kitchen sink shell as a Wappler-native mobile project with App Connect integration, Framework7 routing, Capacitor-ready configuration, and better routed-page include metadata and head-page linkage for design-view and authoring behavior.
  • Removed the old custom kitchen styling layer so the template now demonstrates standard Framework7 component styling directly.
  • Added Wappler-specific showcase pages for standard Framework7 usage, App Connect bindings, and Capacitor features, and made the Kitchen Sink available as a new auto-installed demo project for docs, tours, and Framework7 guidance.
  • Updated startup demo installation so Wappler can create demo projects from the mobile template tree as well as the web template tree, updated the mobile template metadata to use Capacitor only, and improved the first-time Capacitor flow so required system checks run automatically instead of prompting first.

Reference Docs, Export, And Search

  • Greatly expanded the generated reference documentation surface across Astro docs and guided docs outputs, adding more than 1,100 guided reference pages covering components, actions, formatters, utilities, and low-level framework and element surfaces.
  • Expanded Bootstrap 5 reference coverage across semantic components, starter blocks, App Connect-aware semantic patterns, and related utility and content surfaces.
  • Added broad App Connect reference coverage across core components, bindings, and reusable client-side building blocks.
  • Added strong Framework7 8 reference coverage for mobile components and structures including pages, navbars, lists, cards, forms, views, tabs, panels, toolbars, popovers, progressbars, and related mobile UI building blocks.
  • Added broader Server Connect reference coverage for actions and utilities such as auth, arraylist, filesystem, S3, image processing, sockets, zip, JWT, OAuth, mail, validator, import/export, and related server operations.
  • Improved the docs/tours export pipeline and supporting tooling with extension reference inventory generation, reference-tour blueprints, materialized reference hub outputs, better Astro hub and sidebar/index generation, and stronger links between guided paths and generated references.
  • Reorganized the main Docs & Tours Index around clearer user paths, added a dedicated first-app path, rebalanced beginner and advanced browsing, and refreshed the generated online docs, sidebar, sitemap, LLMS text, runtime tour assets, and Pagefind search data to match the updated structure.
  • Improved runtime export handling for docs-facing tours, added better fallback behavior around export setup, UI sizing, snapshots, and theme switching, completed fresh light and dark exports for the updated docs-facing tours, and rebuilt the in-app Wappler Tours Pagefind index.
  • Exported fresh runtime markdown and screenshots for the new Real Estate tours in both light and dark themes, and synced the updated guided content into the Astro docs output.

Reliability, Editing, And Project Workflow

  • Fixed intermittent project-switch issues caused by editor toolbars not being fully cleaned up when closing and reopening projects.
  • Improved project-switch teardown so App Connect unloads more cleanly, stale drag-and-drop state is removed, and delayed App Connect updates targeting removed elements no longer produce noisy errors.
  • Fixed Theme Manager compile issues that could appear during project bootstrap or when switching projects before the Theme Manager UI was opened, and improved initialization so theme data can still be generated when the properties panels are not mounted.
  • Improved App Connect cleanup during editor unload and treated stale App Connect DOM operations as safe no-ops when the target node is already gone.
  • Fixed first-open bootstrap for Wappler Local Server projects so they no longer ask to run npm install when no install is actually needed, and fixed repeated dependency prompts after bootstrap changes for local demo projects.
  • Fixed cases where opening a newly created page while its file was already open could corrupt the page HTML or <head> during framework setup.
  • Fixed cases where the <!-- New Wappler Page --> marker could be removed too early, preventing frameworks and required files from being added automatically.
  • Improved page restore and sync behavior so clean pages reopen from the correct source instead of stale in-memory DOM state, and fixed timing issues where older HTML editor parser results could overwrite newer page content during framework setup.
  • Improved demo-project bootstrap so required framework and asset updates are applied automatically, removed the remaining Framework7 Icons popup during demo project creation, and improved demo detection so the right no-prompt bootstrap behavior is applied consistently.
  • Fixed switching from a mobile project to a web project so the correct publishing toolbar is reinitialized immediately, fixed Wappler internal server projects so the local server starts correctly after switching, and removed the false npm dependency confirmation shown for those local server projects.
  • Improved the auto copy and include of the App Connect core and improved popup window management, closing, and cleanup.
  • Added a show comments option in the Structure panel, added the matching showComments global option, improved demo-project creation support for mobile projects, improved Demo Project 7 Kitchen Sink installation, and stopped showing the dmxFramework7_icons folder in the Pages Manager.

Version Updates And Fixes

  • Fixed the new experimental Git Manager for an incorrect deleteBranch call in finish-feature flows and prevented list-component change events from firing after rerender.
  • Updated Framework7 to 8.3.4.
  • Improved App Connect and Server Connect reference tours so they show clearer tables of available properties, and improved tour and hub listings so the right labels are shown consistently.
  • Updated Server Connect NodeJS to 2.8.3 and now always converts offset and limit to numbers for database connector pages queries.
