Organizing Editor Tabs in Groups

Intro

The new Tab Groups in Wappler are designed to streamline your workflow. With Tab Groups, your Server Actions, App Flows, and Pages are now automatically organized into labeled groups. This ensures a cleaner, more intuitive workspace where related tabs are neatly categorized, making it easier to navigate and manage your projects efficiently.

Tab Groups Overview

Opening a Server Action, App Flow or a Page will automatically place it in the appropriate group:

Clicking on a tab group label will collapse the tab group:

Collapsed tab groups display the number of tabs inside them. Clicking the collapsed tab group labels will open them:

You can manage the tab groups - for example you can close all the tabs in the group by selecting Close Group or undock the whole tab group in a new Wappler window by selecting Undock Group:

Disabling Tab Groups

Tab grouping is enabled by default, but if you’re someone who prefers the 'chaos' of open tabs, you can easily disable this in Wappler Options. Simply turn off the 'Group Tabs by Editor Type' setting:

Hello @Teodor ,

I really love this new feature ! It is very comfortable to work with it!
Just a little small suggestion: using the fiture and opening a lot of server connects, the green tab Server Action disappeared from the line, because too many apis were open, so I had to close them. Could you be good that also if we open a lot of file the button Server Connect remain visible so we can click and group all the tabs

@patrick will check that :slight_smile:

Yes! I have been wanting this option for a while! My thoughts and requests are can we create our own groups? Example: let's say if have a layout page, and then have lets say 3 or 4 server actions that all go together, I would rather have it that way. I mean really just like how Google Chrome organizes their tabs. Can pick a color etc. I don't need all the work flows/ server connects together. I need all the ones that work together in a single tab.

First off, I love it! :beers:

Two things though:

1: When you close a tab group it leaves the current tab in focus in the design area. There is no indication what file you have open in the design view. Is it possible (and it may not) to leave the focused tab out of the collapsed group so you always know what tab is focused?

2: Very minor, but just for consistency. In the Server Actions Panel, the icons are still orange. Would be nice if those were green to match the tabbing colours. Maybe use the same icons in the Actions panel as the action tab.

Nice job guys. I love how Wappler is starting to get a little colour in the UI. Well, done.

Haven't tried beta yet, replying based on screenshots.

I usually have 1 or 2 pages and 1 or two SA open as tabs.
And they are easy to navigate with Ctrl+Tab, as they can be organized to be in any order. So I suppose this grouping works for mouse users more than it does keyboard users.
Happy to see a toggle to switch it off.

Maybe an option to not open layout page if there are no changes in content page, could be the next improvement.

All looks great, I’ll have a play this evening!

Yes, I think it would be helpful to be able to turn it off instantly with one click if “Chaos Mode” suddenly feels the way to go!

You can still navigate through tabs using ctrl+tab
