Next months Meetup - Suggested topic

@mark1

I'd like to make a suggestion for next months Meetup and I'd like everyone who can attend for a short time to attend if they can.

Lets talk about what is happening in the Wappler Community.

No pussyfooting about. Lets have it out in the open!

I’d be in for that. I would even set my alarm for that so I don’t miss it.

I would think it would be a very valuable hour for the team to attend as well.

Let’s get some positive vibes back in this community.

Absolutely @brad!

Lets also remember how open and friendly, and supportive, this Community was. Valuable members have left. They are really missed. They had their reasons for leaving and they need to be spoken about. We don't need to bring up names. We all know who is missing over the past few months. The Wappler Community was so chilled and helpful. The Team were on it within minutes or within a couple of hours. During the interim other Users stepped in to help. I'd like to know what has changed? Why do the same one or two people gate-keep Wappler like it's their own personal responsibility? I'm not talking about Team members there quite obviously... Seems right now if you do something to enhance Wappler you're doing the wrong thing because the gate-keepers didn't do it themselves. Its like people are staking claims. Unwilling to see change and a different perspective. At least that is how it feels. I've been wrong before and maybe I am wrong again but at least I am open to discuss if I'm wrong or not, and I will apologise if I am.

Would like to try and make it July 10. What time is the meet up? I’m on US Central time.

Thank you. Yes I believe that’s 8am my time. Putting on calendar!

Lets plan some order for the next Meetup in July.

What subjects do you wish to cover?

I'll make a few suggestions to get the ball rolling...

  • How to revitalise the Community, what can we all do to help?
  • The effect AI is having on Users asking questions?
  • Improvements to reporting/tracking bugs?
  • Finish up with our wish-lists and what we would like to see in Wappler 8?

For those that have not attended a Meetup before they run for about an hour with a nice little introduction and brief catch-up prior to the recording of the live session itself.

All ideas and suggestions welcome! @mark1 has to organise this chaos to fit it all in. Lets help him plan the Meetup well in advance. I'm sure he'll appreciate it.

Thank you all that have shown an interest in attending.

Lets remain focussed (please) and work to achieve an outcome that is positive for all of us, the Team, the Community, and Wappler itself of course.

I know when I suggested the above need for an open conversation I was not in the best frame of mind, however, I'd like it to remain beneficial and productive for all attending.

This... ^

Wow that really is having a massive effect! I've just been shared a thread where Discourse Community providers are all saying the same thing, from all sectors, seeing huge declines in activity.

Come on we need to rebel against this trend here on the Wappler Community! We all need to start sharing what we are asking AI about Wappler and share the output. I know I'm using more AI to ask questions but a lot of it is outside of Wappler. In that way I am also contributing to the decline in activity on forums I'd otherwise be asking questions on. Difference being is I find the Wappler Community incredibly inspiring. Watching Users journeys unfold. I'm really missing that aspect a lot. I understand it though... ARRGHHH it is truly a double edged sword!!

How do we fight against it, can we, what do we do?

I'm done with Meetups. No thoughts/input/feedback on the above suggestions in over two weeks from @mark1. Not even an acknowledgment. Very disappointing.

Thanks to those that showed some interest in discussing very important topics. There has been some positive movements since this topic was created however, so at least some good come of it, and for that I am very thankful.

With regards to attending July's Meetup I won't be there. Not worth my time and effort. Sad to say that I really am.

Howdy Cheese my friend, sorry to read that last post. You will be missed as you have a lot of valid thoughts and concerns.

I think the lack of responses on the forum hi-lights exactly why we need this meeting. Thanks again for all you do.

Your words are very kind Brad. I just don't see the point in Meetups if the organiser does not respond to suggestions for them?

I'd suggest a new format. Either YouTube live streams or Google Meets (no time restriction and no waiting to be let in to the stream like I am often left hanging when I try to attempt to join a Zoom Meetup).

Indeed, and the irony of this very sentiment is not lost upon me. Over two weeks and not one response. Like I said really disapointing.

I'm not discouraging other Users from attending but I'm past interested now. Too little too late despite any response from Mark from here-on-out.

Am speaking with Mark privately so hopefully can restore some faith....

Then (two weeks ago), you suggested discussing Community matters in the next Meetup — which is a perfectly valid topic and already fits within the normal structure of every Meetup. These kinds of suggestions don’t usually require a formal response from the Meetup Team, because they’re handled as part of the ad‑hoc planning process.

Now, two weeks later, you’re disappointed that there wasn’t a specific acknowledgement from Mark. I’m not sure what kind of reply you expected from him, given that these suggestions are routinely incorporated without ceremony. The lack of responses from the wider community is unfortunate, yes — but that’s not something that can be laid at Mark’s feet.

The Meetups have always included space for open discussion, including the topics you raised. That hasn’t changed.

How did I know you were going to chip in Ben....

Common courtesy! A small response so some format to the discussion could be arranged prior to the day. No one is landing anything at Marks feet Ben!!

What the hell are you rattling on about????? You just can't keep out of it can you.

No further comment.

Cheese, I wasn’t “rattling on” — I was simply clarifying how Meetup suggestions are normally handled. Nothing more than that. There was no intention to interfere or to make this personal.

You raised a point, I responded with my understanding of the process. That’s all from my side.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Yeah yeah...

  :joy:

Tune in on the 10th for the best Meetup ever!

:hugs:
