New to Wappler and web dev

Hi everyone,

I'm new to Wappler and finding it challenging without a coding background. The YouTube tutorials are helpful but often outdated. Does anyone know of any structured courses or books that explain Wappler in an easy-to-understand way?

I'm happy to be part of the Wappler community and appreciate any guidance you can offer.

welcome to the forum!

There are no books I'm aware of, if there were, they'd be huge - Wappler is a very capable piece of software, and as you've seen is quite complex. The creators have done a good job in making it as easy as possible to generate great code but there is still a bit of a steep learning curve.

There's a great breakdown of what you need to know here, some if it is dated but the principles are mostly the same across the different Wappler versions:

Sometimes the best way to learn is to come up with an idea of what you'd like to create.

Once you have a basic idea, break it down into stages, then start off small and keep going until you hit a problem, when that happens, use the search function on this forum (most of your mistakes will already have been experience by someone here). If you can't find an answer, create a help post here, be as descriptive as you can, and someone will pitch in to help.

You'll probably find it quite frustrating when you are starting out, as there are so many unknowns, but with a little perseverance it really wont take long before you start to see some great progress.

Wappler has steeper learning curve, if we compare to no code builders, but once you’ll get into it, you’ll find creating complex applications a breeze! As suggested previously, try and think of a web app that you’d like to create for practice, there’s also some relatively recent content on YouTube created by Ben!

You can go through shop creation video course part 1 and part 2link, that will teach you basics and most importantly structure for your project! My very first project’s structure was a complete mess, that used to create challenges in maintaining the code! Upon the completion of the video series you should have solid knowledge of bootstrap structure, app and server connect components! It’s an absolute gold and I couldn’t recommend it more!

Welcome to the community and Wappler.

On top of the already valuable advice you have been given, as far as the front end design work you will want to freshen up on Bootstrap. That is the framework the front end will be built on.

There are plenty of great resources for Bootstrap on the Internet. You might want to start with the Official Bootstrap Page.
