While part of our team is enjoying a well-deserved summer break, I thought it would be nice to keep the community conversation going with something lighter.
We all have those moments where we discover a feature and think: “I wish I knew about this earlier.”
So, which Wappler feature did you discover later than you probably should have?
It can be something small or obvious, not necessarily a big advanced feature. Maybe it’s a panel, a Server Connect option, an App Connect feature, a formatter, a shortcut, project targets option, reusable layouts, flows, conditions, or anything else that changed how you work.
Would be great to hear what made you think: “why didn’t I use this sooner?”
After years of PHP the switch to Node and Docker was the biggest impact for us in the past twenty plus years. Had investigated it a few times but really did not fancy the headache of porting to it. Making that decision to do so was one of the best things we ever did thanks to Wappler and @JonL keep mocking PHP. Yep, peer pressure, damn it...
The Dynamic Attribute on an input which lets you make it Required if a condition is met. Lovely little nugget which I use a lot and was very pleased when I first found it.
The required condition was a great find! That would be the top of my list recently. However, another very simple one that I am sure everyone except me knew how to use was the condition statement in a server connect. Small thing but it was huge for me.
1. Docker + Traefik
Being able to publish multiple apps on one server, with automatic routing + SSL; much less maintenance, cleaner deployments, and lower hosting costs.
2. Docker + MySQL on the same server
Local DB container - faster queries, simpler backups, and no exposed ports with improved security at the same time.
