When handling dynamic data - is there a way to show default/generic data always?

When handling dynamic data, depending on the conditions - the design view may not currently show any of the data. This makes it quite challenging to work with.

Right now, i’m designing, and not putting any conditions on the data bindings so I can at least work with the design still - is there a setting / workaround for this that’s best practise?

Sure. Just click the lightning bolt at the top of your design view to turn off app connect

Excellent thank you. That was a simple one!!

Next question - some dynamic strings are naturally very long - and so push the design out (just turned it off) - how do we handle this?

You can turn that back on and apply default data using the data formatter. I’m not in front of my computer right now so can’t supply you with screenshots.

I usually just work in split mode and use the design panel for quick selection. I quickly got used to working with app connect turned off and using the browser for live preview.

Interesting, apply default data sounds ideal - trying to find some info on this now in the forum/docs. Thank you Brad.

Select your binding on the page …

Click on the magic wand (App Connect Formatter)

Then the plus sign in the formatter and you will find the default attribute there.

@brad strangely this actually broke any live view, so I’ve had to remove it all. It worked fine in the design viewer, but when viewing in the browser - nothing displays at all. Perhaps more issues with node.
