What is the difference between App Connect Component and Extension?

Let’s say I want to create a TinyMCE integration for mobile projects and allow others to contribute to it.

Should this be a component or an externsion?

I’m not sure what the difference between the two are.

It is a component installed as an extension.

In other words, the widget is called a component that is grouped under extensions.
