Happy to report Wappler (7 Beta 30) runs smooth as butter on Ubuntu 25.04.
A bit of advice, would the Plucky Puffin bring life into a brand new, but very sluggish machine?
Ben you would be absolutely astonished. My old machine which was not too well endowed booted in a few seconds (with a cheap replacement SSD). YES! Over Windows the speed is 10 fold. For dev work is blazing with Apache, MySQL, and Docker all running locally alongside Wappler, Workbench, and Visual Studio Code on top. Few little tweaks make even all the more faster. Would feel like a new machine Ben. And just about every piece of hardware is supported (I got a new laptop yesterday and instantly put Ubuntu on it without even booting Windows and everything is supported from the get go).
Old specs (very aged on Windows, mighty quick with Ubuntu):
New specs (lot more modern CPU/memory etc):
This is my main setup:
I decided it would be prudent to have a backup machine on hand. I purchased an inexpensive device with a substandard system, which has been quite disappointing. Thanks to you, I may be able to make it functional after all. I plan to install Ubuntu over the coming week; thank you!
Who names these Ubuntu release anyway? I would like to suggest the Wild Wappler for the next LTS version. The Wild Wappler is not as rare an animal as people think. They like warm sunny places, boating and oddly enough (or not), Beer.
