Haven’t seen an update in a while so just checking if everything is okay down at Wappler HQ
I could be wrong, but I don't think we will see many more updates other than maybe some urgent fixes to version but 6 as the team focuses on upcoming v7 beta.
But yeah, some updates as to what is happening would be nice.
George mentioned in the 6.8.0 announcement that it would be September before the next update.
I don't think they look at Wappler 6 any longer Even bug reports that already have a fix since weeks ago, they weren't released on Wappler 6 branch. I think they have a really weird work method. This differs from other software companies that also release bug fixes when working on new beta releases.
There are a couple of "urgent" bug reports open (maybe we consider our own bug reports urgent). Fortunately, George replied to mine so I was able to workaround. They do still look at some bug reports/help requests.
Sorry, I took the Wappler Team away from everyone. They are working hard on making me a device that will take the thoughts out of my head and implement them in Wappler with no need to touch a keyboard or mouse!
or maybe they just enjoying those famous Amsterdam coffee shops a bit too much?
Here's actual video at Wappler HQ prepping for lucky number sleven!
Hopefully there is a big rebuild in the works - something that leverages AI.
In the current state, I sometimes feel like Wappler is now slower compared to traditional coding practices because of AI assistants/generators built specifically for coding.
Yes Wappler HQ is all fine - and hard working on Wappler 7 all this time!
Will be starting the beta very soon, maybe tomorrow
And @sid - no AI for now as the AI itself is not there yet, and we want you to build real, solid solutions with Wappler and not fight AI hallucinations only.
My poor point of view is... DON'T LET US (COMMUNITY) RUSH/PUSH YOU INTO HASTY SUGGESTIONS/SOLUTIONS.
Take your time and approach solutions that are workable/feasible for the team, will pay off in the future we all see coming and finally leave "open windows" for further integration into the main wappler core.
(I hope this make sense to you, just used translator for this sentences)
100% agree with you.
But I hope you guys have started on it in some capacity. Since waiting for it to get better would mean Wappler will be very late to the party when one of these LLMs crack the code.
OAI o1-preview is a big leap in code generation from what I hear. So only a matter of time..
yes, see:
Just one point here.. not few years, but a year I would say.
And I am not thinking specifically in terms of Wappler, but coding.
It took me about 2 months to start using Wappler few years ago, compared to raw coding (no frameworks). And many more months to learn more.
Given the AIs have better output in terms of other frameworks and stacks, switching from Wappler to another stack in near future could result in better productivity and output with a couple of months of turn-around time (I personally don't have the bandwidth to explore this right now, to be honest).
