Wappler Getting Started Course

@datguru completely agree, so much time saved with these courses and being able to apply the learning in other places.

I know @mebeingken is probably very busy but hope he keeps them coming - hint hint…

Some topics that cover things like:

  • Shopping carts for Saas and setting trial periods, recurring payments, upgrade and downgrade etc…
  • Uploading records and updating the database using csv files - working with loops and updating multiple records.
. Reporting to include things like charts, filtering and downloading reports via csv, excel and pdf.

Cheers! :grinning: :grinning:

I haven’t used Wappler for over two years, so I’m looking for something that will allow me to use it in the shortest time possible, so I was wondering if this course (I mean the “Getting Started”) is suitable for those who need to develop on PHP (using MAMP locally) or is dedicated exclusively to Node.js and Docker. Can anyone give me any information on this? Thanks

I’d say the course is exactly what you need and isn’t specifically NodeJS or Docker. It gives you a broad look at how Wappler works and how to use it regardless of server model. It does exactly what it says and gets you started… and very well, too.

I would agree this fantastic training is not really specific to the server model even though I believe nodejs is chosen it shouldn’t matter really as the concepts covered pretty much apply to both server models. What I would say is there are certain advantages to choosing Node especially if you are just starting so it maybe worth exploring that.

The training does use docker as it’s really easy to start using it. But you can setup a mamp if you would prefer and just configure that as a target using existing documentation and then follow along with the tutorials afterwards.

I’m obliged to use PHP for work reasons but I will certainly have a look at Node on Wappler to see what advantages it has over other technologies. Unfortunately, it is not very popular among hosting plans (e.g. SiteGround doesn’t allow its use, they say it consumes too many resources).

@mebeingken
Can you add something like limit the users to seeing things only after they purchased it?
Like student seeing only courses they purchased.
(currently using bubble and dying to move to wappler… but really fear about what would happen if I don’t know what i’m doing.)

Hi @ndv,

I’ll consider this when I refresh the course, but that will be several months away. The forum is very helpful though, so consider trying to do this on your own and asking questions as you get stuck.

Thanks, just purchased your course by the way lol. Really dying to move to wappler.

4 posts were split to a new topic: Wappler 4 beta: error loading custom extensions

Hi @mebeingken

Do you plan updating/recreating the courses to match the new 4.0 layout and features?
I believe most of us would be happy to spend a nice amount on this

I know it is a huge work, so just kindly asking (and hoping at the same time)

Hi Gabor,

Thanks for the interest!

Yes, the plan is to produce a new course for version 4. Planning has already begun, and I’ve been waiting for the final release to start recording. I will probably wait for the Wappler team to return from their well deserved summer holiday, as they are very helpful in case I find minor bugs along the way.

It’s going to be a long process though since much of the interface has changed.

I want to start with Wappler. Is there an online course for 4.0 version? Or else, I can go ahead with version 3, because there is no much difference between version 3 and 4?

A post was split to a new topic: No data fields found in Bootstrap 5 Table Generator

I’ve started updating the videos to reflect version 4. I’m about a third of the way through the course and get a couple done each day. I think everything will be updated within a couple weeks.

I’m so happy to hear this, thanks for the update…!

The first two sections (Getting started and app connect, front end) are now all Wappler 4) but given the experimental new workflow design, I’m holding off to see where that shakes out since the server connect lessons will look very different.

I really appreciate this. I am thinking of making the jump to Wappler and this resource is one of the deciding factors for me!

These videos were invaluable to me as a newcomer. Without Ben’s videos on the wappler youtube and your site here I would have given up long ago. Great work and I look forward to new updates and content.
Cheers!

Which server model is used in your courses…node, php or asp?

Node, although most of the course uses standard Wappler components so applicable to all.
