Was curious if wappler had been tested with windows 11 yet. Had a message that it was trying to update me to 11. Which I denied. LOL . But it has already updated a couple of my clients without any input from them. And messed up several things, and which one I’m still trying to resolve. Just surprise you are running windows 11…
Yes Wappler works all fine on Windows 11.
But if you pc can handle Windows 11, is a different story
Windows 11 pushed us back to using Linux. No regrets though! Loving how far Linux has come in the last twenty years. Over the past six months Windows pretty much became an unstable mess, crashing every couple of hours. Just can’t have that as a developer. Simply too unreliable.
Yeah I just love it how they upgrade without someone specifying that you want to do that.
What distro of linux do you run?
Have gone with Ubuntu. Was a big fan of Debian so can’t go wrong. If you’re not ready to totally jump ship it is easy enough to set-up a dual boot option while you decide. Can still browse to all your Windows files if you don’t wish to switch all together.
As a side note. Wappler installs seamlessly, runs so much smoother than Windows.
My only issue is 15 years of photoshop expertise. Can’t run that on linux? What do you do for graphic editing?
I use GIMP. I was also dependant upon Adobe for years.
There are guides on setting up Photoshop using Wine (Windows emulator). Could also run a VM if you really wanted to. Very easy to do. If you have a legit Windows key you could just assign a bit of HDD space and spin it up as needed. Or even leave it running if you use it more often.
I’ve used Gimp sometimes in an emergency when I don’t have a copy of photoshop handy because I’m on a live event or something. I’m just so used to the shortcuts and how everything works on Photoshop. That would be the hardest to switch over. Might be up for buying another Mac. The M1’s look cool.
You beat me to it. Was just going to say that.
We thought about Macs but when we specced them we literally sh*t ourselves hahaha. Then a new one was announced. Kind of thankful we didn’t go that route in the end. Saying that the Mac Mini still looks great and very affordable.
In defence of Windows 11, providing your computer meets the hardware requirements or you buy a new computer, Wappler works really well on the new OS. I actually rather like Windows 11, at least so far (after a couple of weeks).
I think it's the first time I've bought a Windows computer with a non-Intel processor (it's an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X). It's very fast - probably faster than my M1 Mac Mini.
