Assuming you aren’t talking about the Wappler integration, Hetzner Cloud is just a Linux VPS, so you can host whatever you’d like on them. They don’t come pre-installed with Docker, so you don’t have to use it as long as you’re able to set up a reverse proxy. You’ll need to know the basics of Linux. Securing + Setting up a reverse proxy is relatively easy.
Hetzner also supports Node on some of their shared web hosting plans, but web sockets aren’t compatible.
I have no idea how the Wappler integration works, but I’m pretty sure that forces Docker.
Digo summed up pretty well in the post above
With the Wappler integration I bet yes, though you can still use your local target as you've been using so far - no need to start using Docker for local development if you don't want to (I think)
Yes
Other alternatives include installing a control panel like Plesk in your VPS, though I'm not sure if it's worth it over using Wappler's native integration with Hetzner
Thanks for the info @Digo and @Apple. Pretty much confirms that Hetzner is not for me at my knowledge level.
Much appreciated!
Happy to help! Just for curiosity, what are you going to use?
Right now I am just playing around getting to learn Node.js. I am currently using the free level on Heroku. It’s good enough for my playing around. Not sure I would host an actual production site there yet. But it was fairly easy to set up.
Also, messing around with Digital Ocean. Haven’t done much with it yet though.
If we decide to go with Node in the future we may just upgrade our shared hosting we have now to a VPS.
Still in the very early stages of trying Node. I like it so far. Wish hosting was easier and more affordable though.
