Shall i do a Wappler 8 video tutorial,

With Wappler 8 on the horizon I would normally be looking to prepare a new video series but thought i would ask the community about whether this is worthwhile.

So,with AI and the new tours, is this still a valid training method?

I would be targeting new/inexperienced users and the tutorial will probably be much simpler than my last which ended up much larger than anticipated and quite repetative.

Personally, even with AI,i feel it is important for the user to actually understand the code produced and be able to fix it where aporopriate but others may feel AI is enough.

So my question is, do i bother with a new series. I know i could produce a hybrid including both but would prefer to stick to manual coding in a tutorial as AI, in my opinion, defeats the object of the tutorials.

What shall I do?
  • Produce a video tutorial showing how to code.
  • Don't bother, no longer needed

I have found numerous video tutorials made by you and others extremely beneficial throughout the years and have several bookmarked for when I need to go back and review a concept again.

As with the normal order of things, as Wappler has improved and advanced, some tutorials may not exactly be useful as a step by step process on completing a task, but the concepts discussed are relevant to understanding why something needs to be done in a particular order, can lead to generating new ideas on how to go about completing a task, or can improve a persons understanding of things they might not have delved into very much. For example, in my case, the introduction of NodeJS a few years ago. I would not have learned as much or understood as much if it had not been for the video tutorials and this forum to ask questions.

I have not had time to fully go through the new tutorials introduced by Wappler as of yet. I have dabbled by looking at a couple of them and they are useful in showing how to do something in Wappler. I have not dived deep enough to explore if they explain the “why” behind things.

I have used AI to help me troubleshoot things in Wappler and to give me ideas on how to go about things, but I still prefer to create my pages manually so I know how everything is put together and can easily identify problems or add things as needed. I may be old school in that way, but I am sure I am not alone.

If you are going to do a video series, @Hyperbytes, I would probably recommend doing one on an area or topic that you feel is needed to be more fully explained or explored. Off the top of my head, what comes to mind is maybe a revamped e-commerce solution or even possibly a series advancing the capabilities or possibilities of using AI in the Wappler environment.

For me, I do find video series valuable because I learn from reading, listening, and doing things myself and seeing someone else do something helps me learn (especially when they encounter errors or something does not work just right).

I hope my feedback is valuable and I look forward to seeing what you decide to do.

Thanks for the detailed reply.
I prefer to steer away from AI tutorials as i am.probably not the best tutor in that respect and the incidental token costs could spiral out if control.

Ben has covered ecommerce very well already but i guess a full blown ecommerce solution integrating aspects like sockets, live refresh and external API connection may be a decent idea, maybe offering both stripe and PayPal checkouts.

Superseded videos that are no longer relevant should be replaced by your version 8 videos and that includes the ecommerce video created an era ago.

I think a video series targeting new/inexperienced users with simple videos would be very welcome. I have followed your videos in the past and progressed with building a website quite nicely until other work priorities have taken over and I have had to revert to using Dreamweaver (latterly with Copilots assistance) because the complexity of Wappler and lack of coherent pathway in the learning has always beaten me before I have got to the finish line. I feel now that the documentation for Wappler has improved massively, with simple to use videos I might actually get to transfer from asp to node.js on Wappler.

Your videos were a huge help when I was first learning how to use Wappler. I still check them out from time to time whenever I have questions.
