Hmm, that's an interesting question! There are quite a few IDEs out there, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. Some common ones include Visual Studio, IntelliJ IDEA, Eclipse, and PyCharm. Each has its own dedicated user base, and opinions can vary widely.
Once upon a time that missing one was a ground breaking leader. It’s also the reason many of us long time Wappler users are here. I meet a lot of good people and had many great experiences at the annual conference. It had so much going for it. Sad to see it die.
I started in web development because a friend who owned a local race track needed a website and he asked, "You used to work at Apple, you're a computer guy, can you build a website?" I was like, "Not sure, but how hard can it be!" Boy did I have a lot to learn...haha
After some research I ended up building it with "that missing one" and some extensions from WebAssist. Then I went to hand coding PHP sites using Panic's Coda. Then I finally pulled the trigger on purchasing Wappler and have not looked back and don't plan to.
Out of curiosity I looked to see if WebAssist is still around, and it looks like they are stuck in 2001 with Mac OSX shots still on their site.....
The passing of Ray Borduin, the founder of WebAssist, a few years ago marked the conclusion of WebAssist. Similarly, Al Sparber's passing also brought an end to Projectseven.
I have a similar story in my journey to Wappler. Used DMXZone, Interakt and WebAssist extensions with DW for many, many years. Saw the Indiegogo plan for Wappler and invested immediately. Been using it since the early betas and absolutely not looked back.
Tragic to see Ray's passing. I followed his YouTube diary during his treatment.
InterAkt offered some good Extensions during their time (made a great search engine with those), for me was those guys, WebAssist, DMX, Wappler. Obviously Dreamweaver was a big part but did like Drumbeat too! Had a few books by David Powers which he signed. Before YouTube we read all the things hahaha.... Have a book about half a meter thick on HTML 4. Ahhhh those were the days!
Oh.. >I was ill in the bed and my father brought me a magazine with a floppy disk inside.. it was Hotdog Professional. First time I saw it... You made remind this moment..
For it's time, it was an excellent bit of kit. They did really well for a while then disappeared off the map. Hope you managed to try it out when you got better
