He wants the latest features and yet views the sites on old technology.
It’s not quite as bad as using Internet Explorer 6 or anything like that (I gave up with Internet Explorer years ago).
But he does insist on using 10 year old PCs (some of his PCs are 15 years old!) with Windows 7 (and some struggle with Windows 10), an iPhone 5 or 6 and iPad 2 or iPad 3.
So the question is, would you expect him to have problems with complex data driven pages created using Wappler?
He says everything is slow, clunky and often doesn’t work. He then points at Amazon, Just Eat and other big name sites saying he never has problems with them. I don’t want to be too specific but have more of a general discussion. My argument to him is that his business relies on computer 100%, they are his main business tool, and yet he won’t buy reasonably up-to-date machines.
It’s like a top chef buying second-hand knives and sharpening them with a nail file.
With Wappler’s App Connect - the main driven force in the browser, we do support even older browsers. The most common functionality should work even in older IE6+
If you do use newer features like Flows - then you will need Edge as minimum as before that there was no js promises support in the browsers. Could be added if really needed by simply including a promises lib like blurbird.
Furthermore you might want to check the Bootstrap compatibility.
But in general you should have much troubles with older pc - as long as they run up to date browsers.
We overcome a similar situation when we sat down using our own laptops to show the Client the difference. A reasonable Accountant should be able to wipe the investment as an expense and at the end of the day the upgrades cost nothing, infact some countries offer an incentive to this approach (I believe the UK is one of them?). He needs to speak with his accounting department/Accountant.
Man I hate these types of Client, sometimes its just not worth the money to work for them!
