with some previous versions of Wappler, I had tested the use of AI, choosing gopilot and finding it worked well.
After some time, with the new version 7.9.1. I was planning to test AI again, but unfortunately everything has changed and I can't figure out how to do it anymore.
Now the drop-down menu gives me two options: Act and Ask, and a message appears asking for specific configurations:
<<<< No AI provider selected. Please select a provider in the options >>>>
The options page has a notable number of configurations, but unfortunately I'm not yet familiar with AI
Is there a detailed tutorial on how to correctly set the options for optimal use?
Thanks to whoever will answer me
Hi Marzio,
'Act' and Ask are pretty much what they say. 'Ask' allows you to ask advice without making changes to files, while 'Act' will make the suggested changes to the files. I just wish there was a way to set the default to 'Ask' rather than 'Act'. After doing an 'Ask' it does give you the option to switch to 'Act' and make the changes. I always do the 'Ask' first simply because I am no AI or coding expert and I like to know what is going on and how to fix it if it goes wrong.
As for the settings, until you learn more about AI and the different providers (most have costs and can get pricey), I'd stick with GitHub Copilot to learn with. So far it hasn't cost me a dime and is reliable for my basic needs.
You could always ask AI for a tutorial…
…but be warned: it will happily generate a 12‑step workflow, a diagram, and a motivational quote, all before you’ve even finished your coffee.
But the first problem I encountered was how to configure the options for normal Copilot use.
Maybe I did something wrong, but now I can't get out of this setting.
Well unfortunately GitHub limited the opus 4.7 model only for GitHub copilot pro+ users among with other restrictions
But just choose GPT 5.4 - it is the best one anyway
well what kind of github copilot subscription do you have?
See:
I had already used AI with Copilot a few months ago, with a free subscription, but I don't remember how I did it.
Should the subscription still be valid, or not?
