Wanted to write this (and yes it is me writing it) for a while as feel the need is there to actually understand what A.I can and can't do. We see it this way after using various forms of A.I since its initial Copilot implementation some years back now (really has been that long).
See A.I as a huge super market. The biggest super market you have ever seen. Thousands of aisles and everything anyone sells stocked on the shelves with no price tag. With this analogy you get the idea. You can go shopping with as many trolleys (carts for our friends the other side of the pond) as you want. You can go with a single trolley and just pick up what you need or take ten trolleys and fill them with everything you can get your hands on. Great all that stuff for free! Now you need to get it all home in your family car... Fine for the person who just went out and did their daily shop but for the person who filled ten trolleys the problems begins. No matter what you do all those items are not going to fit.
While in the car park you start to pick through all the bits and pieces you actually need. Leaving more out then you keep in. Slowly the pile of items you have to leave behind begins to get bigger and bigger and you realise you really didn't need half of what you picked up. Whats more is a lot of the stuff you picked you don't know what to do with. You got every single tool for your garage and all the ingredients you need to make anything you want but you are not a mechanic or a Michelin chef so what are you going to do now?
We all know shopping is a lot easier with a shopping list. Thus next time you go shopping you take your list with you and only get what you need for this weeks shop. You have enough space and you know what you have picked will be used and consumed. You know next week the shop will still be there and you can go back...
Between shops you can learn that new recipe or how to time the engine on your combine harvester so it runs smoothly. Then when the time comes grab those ingredients and that new tool when you next visit the super market!
