Framework7: what are your plans for the near future?

When I read updates 3.2.2, I really wanted to believe that at last Wappler will have a really high-quality Fw7 integration. And all the power of this framework will be available, along with the amazing features of Wappler in terms of backend and frontend logic.

But now I see it didn’t happen. I have even encountered the fact that after this update I get more broken things than working ones.

There are currently 65 elements in Fw7. About 10 of the most basic ones are implemented in Wappler. About 17 more elements in Wappler overlap due to App Connect, because the elements are similar (but I note that sometimes the differences are noticeable). In total, about 35-38 elements are simply missing today in Wappler. This includes not only non-connected html templates, but also a large number of parameters and settings for each element, which are often set at the basic level of the application itself, as well as a large number of dependencies and relationships with other elements. In other words, a huge amount of work.

Without high-quality integration of all these elements, as well as convenient and correct work with them and their interaction with your App Conect, it is impossible to talk about convenient work on mobile applications in Wappler. But after the 3.2.2 update, when installing the latest version of Fw7 (which is integrated with App Connect), it became even more difficult to work than before. Now there are often situations when errors occur when initializing an element in an application file or when accessing internal Fw7 functions (for example, an internal router) due to a tight connection with App Connect. As a result, neither Wappler can create the element or functionality itself, nor I can implement it manually.

But these are all my personal feeling. Now something else is important.

I respect the Wappler team and really appreciate your work. I would be grateful if you can help me make a working decision by answering the question: what are your plans for the near future in terms of developing mobile tools? This question arises because today there is a feeling that the mobile tools for the Wappler team is not very interesting and they would like to focus on more important (from their point of view) things.

I have several major mobile projects under development. But the production time is extremely important to me. That’s why I’m constantly looking for mobile development tools that significantly save development time.

At the moment, I found an interesting tool: https://www.thoriumbuilder.com

It looks very good. But there is a key problem, it is only for Mac. I contacted the developer and found out that there is also a PC version in the plans, but it will not be in the very near future.

I began to seriously consider buying a Mac, only to put thoriumbuilder on it to speed up the application development process. But I would not like to do this, because the Mac is an expensive toy, and I have no other purposes for using it.

@George I would be very grateful if you could give me and the community more information about what your team plans for the very near future in terms of mobile tools?

Personally, this will help me make the right decision. Thank you in advance.

Wappler is a tool of a whole different caliber. Our mobile integration is already very complete and still being expanded by the week, next to improvements and new features in many other areas.

But you can always buy a Mac

Try other tools, maybe webflow and bubble as well. All great tools.

You can even go for Wordpress if the number of plugins is what it matters to you.

Thorium looks interesting but does not build native mobile apps for the device app stores like Wappler does. The UI may look a little better than Wappler but as a tool it looks very limiting. I wouldn’t expect much from a 89 Euro lifetime license.

I’d stick with Wappler.

these products are not comparable products. Apart from that, wappler already have many tools to get you to the destination you want. I am preparing an application with framework 7 now and I have many tools. everything is in wappler. I can easily deal with the missing features with a little research.

Also, we must not forget. The wappler team has included all the features we wanted in the wappler very nicely. and it gets stronger every day. I do not want the wappler team to be badly motivated at this stage. I am confident that they will do many more things better over time!

Please ask the features you want from the Wappler team, I am sure they have already thought about them and will be added if needed.

Sorry George, I just cannot agree with you here.

I completely understand the reasons why it is not a complete integration, and have absolutely no problem with your decisions on product development -- we all face those choices and a lot goes into those decisions.

But you saying it is "already very completely" is understating the amount of work a developer must perform within code view. Does Wappler help me develop mobile apps, Yes. Does it help me develop mobile apps as much as it does for web apps, No.

Just take the kitchen sink example app -- try building that from scratch using Wappler. And this doesn't even get into the events of fw7.

So again, I'm not complaining...far from it... But your comment does make me believe there is a disconnect between what us users want/need/experience and what you believe you have delivered.

This is what I wanted to Express in my words by writing the text above. And I asked a serious question for me. But my words only made George sarcastic. Sadly :slightly_frowning_face:

Yeah, I think this is what @Mr.Rubi is asking in another thread as well.

I have to say that I agree with what @Mr.Rubi and @mebeingken said, for example reproducing the kitchen Sink is not impossible but it really takes a lot of study and development time to reproduce the components that we would like to have implemented visually, as they are for web applications. In this way we could use a Framework7 component without having to go to their forum to do some research, start copying and pasting code, etc. The idea would be to be able to open the components in Wappler and have all or at least most of them available. I think all of us who are here seek to be able to work only with Wappler and not have to go out to find other products. I think, George, when we talk about other software like Bubble or Webflow, etc, wich by the way i never used cause i dont like it at all, it is not to compare them but to try to make Wappler as complete as possible, because the truth is that we love working with Wappler and that is why we are so interested in these questions.
For me, the biggest advantage of working with Wappler is being able to carry out projects in less time, being able to customize certain parts of the code in order to make my work more complete.
We all see how hard you George and your entire team work and how open you are to receive new proposals and suggestions as well as constructive criticism and that is something that very few companies or startups have.
So you won’t get rid of us so easily  Keep up your great work!

Golden words! It is all these thoughts that I am trying to convey to the community and the Wappler team. I fully support everything written.

Yes making all those many Framework7 components to work can be challenging.

That is why we are adding more and more ready to go layouts as blocks that you can choose from.
Just as we did with the Bootstrap components. So more and more blocks will be coming up each week, next to special App Connect implementations of Framework7 components to make them more dynamic and work with App Connect data bindings our of the box - where required.

So to correct myself the Framework7 integration is not fully complete yet - it is growing by the week @mebeingken
