As a UI/UX Designer that has used Figma to design and hand off designs to developers, I was surprised and excited when I saw Figma’s new updates this week at Config 2023. Seems like the Adobe acquisition has been good for them and their users.
One of these: Figma for VS Code where styling and other code import integrations makes it easy for a developer to use the styles, among other types of code, they are handed off by the designer.
I know this is not the direction Wappler has taken as most Wappler users are one man dev shops where the developer is also the “designer” - correct me if I am wrong.
BUT, and that is a big BUT, wouldn’t it be great if Wappler could become an enterprise developer tool where it is used by teams that receive handed off designs from their design teams and have these types of integrations in future?
Here is the latest AI enhancement that will help you build an entire project in one of the popular frameworks while creating a Figma Design UI project.
A designer I work with sent that video to me and so I took a look. It is great to see figma focus efforts on the developer side of things. The new dev mode is definitely an improvement, especially for those of us that do not spend all day in figma.
You can also see when changes were made and compare to previous versions. For those using more mainstream dev tools it can hand you code made directly for that environment.
A Wappler plug-in would be great for sure, but I am in the camp of those that would benefit more from tightening up existing features.
IMHO, it would definitely be great to be able to import/sync figma designs (I'd definitely be playing with that) but it would worry me that Wappler would be deviating from its purpose of focusing on the full stack developer, investing in features that allow a single developer to, at each update, do even more complex things without needing a team.. I believe this is a huge market that is exponencially growing.
