Error when connection to database to the first time

I have checked these DB connection details with mySQLWorkbench and PHPMyAdmin, so I know that they are valid, but I keep getting this strange error.

Any thoughts?

When do you see this error? What database are you connecting to?

I see this error when I try to connect to a database for the first time. It is a MySQL DB.
