- Yes, I like Wappler AI
- No, I prefer to use other AI tools (e.g. VSCode + Copilot, Cursor, Windsurf, Augment Code, Claude Code, Roo Code, Cline, etc.)
- No, I don't get the hang of AI at all
- I haven't used AI yet
- No opinion yet
- I'm a beginner, no opinion yet
I had a play around with the new AI feature yesterday, and although I really like how the Wappler team has integrated AI into the new Wappler 7 UI, the AI model itself still doesn't seem to have much knowledge of Wappler server actions, or at least enough for me to have any real confidence in it. I think it's definitely on the right track, don't get me wrong, and I look forward to seeing it improve as time goes on.
Anyway, I know using regular ChatGPT in the past, that it was often pretty clueless of valid options for Wappler or server actions or if it did, the info was old, but I was under the impression that Wappler AI's implementation came with much more training so that the AI knew Wappler's capabilities better.
I attempted to get it to run a few different tasks, mostly simple enough database queries and iterating through the data, but it would fail maybe four times whilst generating due to invalid JSON for the server action before spitting out a valid attempt, but usually that attempt was half finished or not what I had asked. I tried this using the GPT and Claude Sonnet models, both weren't up to the task unfortunately. They were also very forgetful if the chat log went on for any length if time.
I do often still use AI more to hash out in words what the logic of something might be, or use it for more standard things like SQL queries, but I just haven't had much success directly copying code snippets and I had hoped Wappler AI would be far better.
I don't know if any of the voting options really represent my opinion
TLDR; Wappler AI implementation looks great and you can see a lot of work has gone into it, but I'm still not sure if the AI is knowledgeable enough about Wappler specific stuff just yet.
We are continuously improving the knowledge of Wappler AI, so if you have troubles with specific generations/questions, please post those as separate topics with more details, so we can make sure the can handle those cases as well.
Hi @George,
Firstly, congrats on the big update to 7
That makes perfect sense, and I appreciate that even though I imagine a tonne of work has gone in already, that it will improve over time. I'll be sure to let you guys know in the future as I come across stuff as the gaps in knowledge is my only current qualm, besides that, nice job - looks and acts great.
I'll be sure to give it it's fair shot going forward
I've not used it for big things (yet) but dip into it every now and then. I just used it to get the class needed to set the colour of an href
so it conformed to the light/dark setting and it correctly provided it for me. (link-body-emphasis
in case you were wondering )
I’ve not used it yet.
Like @sitestreet , I’m more likely to use it for my own education initially rather than getting it to actually build real code in my app.
So on that basis I may use it to create an example design that contains a Wappler feature I’ve not used before.
I’m currently working on starting a podcast series to be at the heart of my marketing strategy. I chat away to chatGPT every day about the best software to choose and how to use it. Just explaining what I need with my voice then reading back the answer on my phone is very very productive. If it ends up creating some kind of text that I need to use on my laptop, I just pull up chatGPT there and copy it.
So a question for @George …
Can I train my own agent in chatGPT which has deep knowledge of Wappler? Can you publish the training you give to the AI tools so we can create our own agent to do a specific task we want?
A lot of my learning I do on my phone when I’m away from my laptop… I need to carefully manage the amount of time I’m sitting in a chair each day for my long term health, as we all do.
Thanks for working on all this AI stuff team… it is definitely the future!
