Data Views: When and why to use them?

This topic got me thinking: Using the New Visual Expression Builder

I have never used a ‘Data View’. What are they and when would you use one? What are some use cases?

The above tutorial shows a table of data within the data view. But why use a data view? You can display the table without a data view. I can’t find any documentation on Data Views either.

I guess I am just confused as to what a Data View is and when it would be used.

Can’t expect me to remember what I wrote five years ago. How did you even find that so fast? :wink:

I guess that leaves the question; do you have to use a data view to use the new expression builder?

The new expression builder is available at a few places on the client side - conditional, show/hide attributes, data view/pouchdb view, input dynamic attributes etc. places where you need to build dynamic expressions.
