I had some historical data for credit card sign up bonuses in Canada and a few days of downtime, so I thought I'd bang out a quick side project that tracks credit card welcome offers over time. www.credeets.io
This might seem completely asinine for anyone outside of North America, where the almighty credit rules everything. But it's common to sign up for multiple cards as well as cycle through cards to take advantage of various sign up bonuses here.
These "Welcome offers" changes over time and it is hard to tell if a current offer is bad, good or likely to increase in the near future. This little project aims to help with that. Simply search for a card and you can see where the current offer sits historically. You can also add cards to your watchlist and an email is sent when there's a new offer.
It's largely self sustaining with a scraper running in the background, and an AI agent extracting the data and summary, which is then added in the backend. At first I had looked at fully automated the entire set up, but the AI is far too inconsistent in formatting the data for it to be reliable, unfortunately.
Next up I will have a look at integrating Prophet for future offer forecasting.
