Copilot is done! Usage cap is a joke!

Just had to use Copilot as don't have our Open Router keys with me (yeah I know right plonker). Usage is a joke! Cancelled our subscription. Did 100% in twenty minutes.

:joy:

I had a few hundred credits left last month and thought I’d treat myself to some Opus 4.7 time. Within minutes the credits
were evaporating. The burn rate is wild.

I've just read up on some Copilot news. Seems going to get even worse June 1st. I actually forgot we had Copilot so at least that won't be a waste of company funds I have to justify to the Accountant. We have an Anthropic Max Plan (200) for Claude Code which we have never hit the limit on despite the activity, even with recent rate limiting. We also have Open Router so won't be hard done by in dropping Copilot. Just don't know how anyone can justify the Copilot subscription moving forwards? For ten Dollars you'll be hard pushed to burn through it on Open Router with Cline etc (repeating the prompts I've just sent).... I know Microsoft need to make money but man Copilot is a total rip-off for now.

EDIT:
Our Copilot accounts don't expire for another few days so thought I'd see how bad the new pricing is... A single prompt to Claude 4.6 - Low.

so @cheese you are using open router then? That works in Wappler.? I’m starting to hit the wall now on copilot. I love using Claude sonnet 4.6, really seems to do well for me. What are you using for wappler tasks in wappler? I know @george has suggested using chatgpt and that works good, I just seem to have better luck using Claude. But if chatgpt uses less tokens then maybe I’ll have to start giving that a spin?

Yes am a big fan of Open Router. I don't use AI in Wappler though (I had my own workflow prior to implementation) @baub

How to enable Open Router / other providers (or local):

Save yourself a fortune use Open Router and try out some Models like the latest incarnations of Qwen, Kimi, GLM, and Deepseek. For the majority of tasks they are really good and you won't see the 'I am sorry you were right let me undo that' type of responses burning your money in front of you.

I feel the same, but being downgraded to the GitHub Copilot free plan has taken all the joy out of using GitHub. I’ve moved over to Claude via Anthropic instead, and honestly, Haiku’s speed with the occasional Sonnet boost has been a much better experience.

Plans & Pricing | Claude by Anthropic

Like you Ben I did have a fondness for Sonnet 4.6 was an incredibly good model and under the previous Copilot plan was quite sustainable too.

@ben so if you go through anthropic how do you integrate that with wappler? Or are you using it outside of wappler?

oh, I see it now in wappler, must have been added since I have messed with it last…

ok, so just sign up for the account there? and then add it here? I am also using github when using VScode for doing unix things on a NVIDIA spark AI box that I configure and use. So not sure if I can also use it there or not. Will have to look. I don’t want to pay for two services if I don’t have to…

Which GitHub plan are you on?

I was recently kicked out of the Pro+ plan and cannot re-sign. But even so, now that I am on Anthropic, I will not go back to GitHub. The experience at Anthropic is far superior.

I have a copilot pro+ plan. but signed up for the anthropic API plan, so will try that and see how things go using that.

Is this one any good? I tried a couple simple requests to see what happens and it seems pretty affordable.

Yep I love Qwen. That was what I used predominately to create the old Cheeseboard (drag and drop dashboard) if you remember that...? DeepSeek is also really very very good too! I love all those open weight models. MiniMax, Kimi, and GLM etc. Will always start with those. They all equally compare to the older Sonnet 4.6 model from Anthropic these days, they really caught up (I really did like that model under the old Copilot pricing as could burn that most days with little cost). Won't be long before these models surpass the frontier models as they get in to more strife with the U.S government for getting too powerful, where as the Chinese models won't have that issue! Don't worry about privacy either! More at risk using anything from Open AI or Anthropic with regards to that...

If someone offers me a JCB to borrow when I'm out digging foundations with a shovel in 42 degree sunshine I'm going to take them up on the offer. I don't mind paying for the fuel either!
