Convert MAMP local server to Wappler Local server

My Current setup is MAMP local server with remote MySQL database. I am having all kinds of problems with the project loading the data in MAMP. Is there an easy way to convert the local host to the built in Wappler server. Oh, it’s a PHP site as well.

So can the local wappler PHP server be used with a remote database? If so, how can I convert to Wappler PHP server?

Or even better is there a way to set up a third target as a Wappler PHP server target so I can keep my MAMP and Production in tact?

So I’m in Wappler 6b9 and trying to set up a local enviroment using the Wappler Built In Server (PHP).

  • What do I put for the URL?
  • How do I select the local folder? Selecting the folder does not change the path.

This should be so hard, should it? lol

In order to use the Wappler local server you need to setup your project using it, i.e select it when you create the project.

So I’m hooped with no local server now for my project. For some reason it won’t run an MAMP (even tried resetting it up) and I can’t create a new project with my already built files (says folder has to be empty)? I have to start from scratch again.

Brad, good day!

What was your outcome in transferring your MAMP server to a Wappler Local Server? I too want to do this… However, my nerves get a little up in the air when I think of having to rebuild or start over with an existing project.

Hi JR,

Unfortunately the Wappler server can only be set up on new projects. There is no way to convert it.

I decided to stay with MAMP in the end even for new projects due to the fact that with MAMP I can have several projects running at the same time. With the Wappler server it only runs for the project that is open in Wappler.

I’m wondering if setting up MAMP on a T7 that can be “mobile” when I travel would be a good idea. Or would you suggest another route?

Is it possible to install MAMP on an external drive?

No, MAMP has to be installed on the system drive. – MAMP Site
