Configuring a new laptop with wappler

I have a new laptop (my old one died) and want to install wappler on it. before i do, i want to know if there are any things I need to be aware of to recreate my projects. Can I just download the files from my server for each project into a new local folder and create a project on my new computer pointing to the appropriate directories?

Thanks,

If you have been using remote GIT for your back ups it's very simple. Just clone new project from your GIT repository.

If you just look at the folder that has all of your existing wappler projects on the old computer, just add them to a folder on the new computer and wappler will see everything as it should be.

If you use docker you may have problems without the security keys.

i havent. just had a local folder and moved everything to the server as files were saved.

i dont. the drive crashed

ive never used anything as these were done when wappler was in its infancy. just created the project locally in wappler and synced files to the server. will it not work to simply download the wappler folders from the production server?

That is what I usually do when a client comes with an existing website (not mine) that needs a bit of love and care.

Yes, that will work if it is straight FTP. You will manually have to set up all the targets and everything again though.

sounds like i need some tlc. do you consult? i would love to get setup properly with a backup mechanism for my project files. ive used wappler since 2010 and none of those things were available.

thanks

Ouch that can be painful. You may find that the drive is still readable in some way so it is possible to rescue files if that is the case. Grab a SATA to USB dongle off of Amazon. I've used these in the past with success. The drive may not boot but reading it could be possible... Could try and spin up a live distro of Knoppix, or Ubuntu etc, booting via USB image. And try to read the drive that way also...

great. i can do that.
thks

No; but I will help out.

Let me know, if @Cheese's solution doesn't work, then we can attack from the other front.

I'm also happy to offer help if you need any advice on using a live image for recovery.
