I have tried to direct connect to remote database via db creator, but getting an error. Still works on server side actions as normal…
Already thought it was only me. I run into the same challenge
When you select the connection have you checked the “users direct connect” option and entered connection info by clicking on the button for “direct database connection” that appears?
Was trying to connect to live dbase. Found that that will not work now. Set up WAMP, and working seemlessly
and what error do you get when you click on the “test” button?
A message dialog box opens…
This means your database server isn’t accessible remotely. Maybe a firewall is blocking direct connections.
You should allow it for your own IP only
Thank you George!! That did the trick. Now it works!
I use Cloudways managed hosting… and I had to whitelist my local IP in order to connect database. Everyday learn something new.
