We have some exciting news to share with you as founders: Bubble recently closed a $100M Series A round led by Insight Partners to become the leading no-code platform, empowering everyone to build technology without code.
Sorry to ask but why highlight this in the Wappler community? Does it affect Wappler users? Personally I don’t care if they got half a billion or a trillion, or a trillion billion… Or a million billion trillion…
This is an yearly event with all trendy no-code companies like bubble and webflow.
Each year they get 50-100million investments, which they quickly burn and deliver not much results.
As the investors hunts them for grow and higher expectations for the next invest round, they have to raise prices to deliver more. Usually sacrificing R&D and quality over quantity.
@Dave just like in the Silicon Valley show, the guy who lost everything because he took round after round larger investments and couldn’t deliver.
I know a company that did exactly the same, took investment capitol, and got totally shafted, metaphorically of course. Ended up with no company at the end of it. Like you say, very akin to Silicon Valley.
The only reason they take investment like this is to cash out when they hit the peak.
They have been rebuilding UI builder for two years now and still nothing. The problem is they really need to rebuild what’s under the hood but investors just want to see growth and a return on their investment.
I have no doubt they will continue to grow and gain a significant part of the market until they get sold to one of the large tech companies.
I find it amusing that the founders are doing the opposite of what they said their intention was when they first started. We see it all the time! Just waiting for the price hike now. Just like SendGrid when they sold to Twilio. Goes to show money talks and the bigger the dollar amount the quieter the founders get.
We are not talking about a company here though are we Brian, we are talking about a community. So I beg to differ. If it were for the benefit of the company would this not be better acknowledged via a message than in the Coffee Lounge?
I think most have come from Bubble to Wappler not vice versa. Feel free to inform me otherwise if there is the evidence for any migration outwardly speaking?
We'll just have to agree to disagree. I still fail to see the point in this thread. What do they stand to gain from this news (the community)? An injection of capitol doesn't make the product great if the developers can't see past their own nose and just see Dollar signs. If they keep on 'said' developers, the board of investors will determine who stays and who goes. Money is power and will influence decision.
Maybe Bubble will become the latest thing since sliced bread all singing and dancing. Maybe it will swallow itself up with internal in-fighting and conflict arising from decisions being made by outside parties with pockets full of money. Doesn't necessarily mean its going to be for the good though.
Either way I won't be going anywhere. I just feel it a little disrespectful to acknowledge this announcement here is all. Maybe drop by the Apple groups and fill them in on the latest Windows 11 news?JOKE by the way, but feel free.
Dude its the coffee lounge! Lighten up! I run company and for one I am interested to see what is happening in the industry and I am grabbing a coffee and relaxing while in the coffee lounge.
It’s not just as user we consider Bubble but new beta competitors utilising the platforms expansion that is of interest!
Thanks @Hyperbytes interesting to see what is happening the industry.
Hey Steven, its just my opinion. Likewise am drinking coffee (maybe too much) and relaxing. Its not personal. Maybe I am a little harsh in my rhetoric but it is how I feel none the less, so apologies if I am hurting anyone's feelings...
Just so you are clear I don't and will never use Bubble, i don't like the product but the Coffee Lounge is for general chat and some may be interested in this. I really don't see why you see it as disrespectful but everyone is entitled to their opinions
I think Bubble has great features, such as an easy to use API connector, no hosting hassle, visual workflows and an OK database manager. Also they have a pretty active community. I think it’s really easy to bind dynamic data, with tables and such. That’s nice.
However, for me it still feels like it is best to use for MVP only, or very small scale applications. Editing large amounts of data is incredibly slow, as well as loading pages with that data. You can overcome this for a bit by using their data API, but its still too slow. The visual editor is weak compared to styling with bootstrap or other frameworks.
Also, you don’t own the code!
I wouldn’t mind some of the convenience of Bubble being worked out in an awesome Wappler way. Wappler is DA BOMB, but has quite the learning curve, as well. I think this is mostly due to the fact that backend + front end developing is just quite a lot to take in, Wappler does not necessarily fix that.
Bubble battles this for a bit, by simplifying things. GlideApps simplifies things a LOT, which I think is good for small projects where company employees can create some simple apps, themselves!
