In case anyone hasn’t seen this news, Affinity (of Photo, Designer and Publisher fame) is now completely free to everyone on both Mac and Windows.
An excellent Photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign alternative.

I still use Photoshop for images but I do use the other Infinity apps when I need them especially publisher. Good to know I can upgarde them. They are VERY GOOD apps.
Thanks for the heads up.
Looks like you have to have a Canva account though. Is that free?
Oh wow! I didnt realise they were acquired by Canva (apparently it’s been quite some time now lol)! I have purchased both Affinity and Affinity 2 bundles and it’s a go to software for me when I do not need specific tools from adobe toolkit like advanced gradients in Illustrator, etc.
Good to know it has worked out for them and they offer their software for free
The more market pressure for Adobe the better
The fact taht you’re unable to cancel your membership and the hoops you need to go through just to cancel it, is the most disgusting business practice I have come accross! Especially for the company of such size!
Looks like they have combined all three apps into one called ‘Affinity’. It seems way less intuitive and complicated to use. I think I will stick with my latest individual app installations as long as I can. Unfortunately if I get a new laptop I will be forced to switch over. But having said that, this is huge for developers/designers that are on a budget. They are great products.
Yep, you need a Canva account but only the free one. If you want to use Canva AI in Affinity then that requires a Canva subscription but most won’t want/need that.
Yeah, it’ll take a little getting used to but I reckon once you do get familiar with it then it will be fine. They say every feature from the individual v2 apps is in there.
That’s the biggest complaint… lack of Linux version.
We are kind of used to it by now hence the GIMP reference above (an unfortunate name but does what it says on the tin).
