How did you enter that expression Ben?
In the new visual expression builder all expressions are per default template strings. So if you want a calculation expression you have to go through the formatter to create it or just the data picker code view.

I followed @Teodor’s great shopping cart tutorial and the matter comes up in the add products to shopping cart
If I go through the formatter, I get an array as in
Hence I have done what Teodor has done and entered the value by hand.
I see - well you can enter it by hand but then you just have to use the code view of the data picker dialog

So this should work fine, you just have to enter the expression in code view:
Then it will be turned into the right expression:
