Syntax error - parser.asp / Classic asp site

Have an asp site that I have been using for a long time, several days ago client contacted me and said site was having issue. I have touched this site in months. Its not talking to the database correctly. I am able to connect to the database from within wappler no problem but getting the following error in the browser when trying to do a basic connection to the DB. @patrick

could it be because the site isn’t using https:// ?

Trying to figure out what could have happened on their side to break it? They are saying its a script problem, but I didn’t change or update anything. I have updated to all the current files too.

Were there any server updates?

Not using https should not throw this error.

A syntax error normally means a typo in the code, try to check the parser.asp file line 108 if there perhaps is some strange character added, sometimes with uploading the file gets corrupted.

I’ve deleted the parser.asp file from server and re-uploaded it.

If I just open the file its actually the line 108? It doesn’t look like there is anything wrong there?

That looks fine. Did something change on the server, like updates being installed? It is strange that a working site stopped working without you having updated it.

It is strange. Hosting company says everything looks fine on their side. I do have access to the VM server so I can get in and look at things but can’t seem to find anything wrong. Driving me crazy!

What would be being pushed to the parser.asp? I can I figure out what the actual line that is getting the syntax error?

If you upload with ftp, try setting file transfer to binary. Best is to inspect the file directly on the server.

Do you get errors at multiple endpoints or is this the only one. Seeing the stack trace it seems to happen when doing a select from the database. Does the error perhaps occur only on actions that use database connection. Try to pinpoint which files are affected, it seems that the error probably is not in the parser but maybe related to the database connection.

agreed it is only pages with database calls. But all of the tests for connections work in wappler. I can edit data etc, pull it up from wappler. so seems like it all configured correctly from the wappler side. The hosting set up a test conneciton page on their own and they were able to connec to database.

I’m thinking I should delete all wappler/DMX folders and re upload all the files?

ok, So I got it working. And sorry for always being a pain in the ass. I’m a one man show and don’t have anyone else to help but you and the forum.

I deleted all DMX folders and reuploaded them all. This seems to have resolved the problem. There was some other funky things going on. So gonna have to dig in a little deeper to see what caused the files to be goofy. But at this point they are fixed!

It is still strange that a file got corrupted without you having touched them, but luckily you’ve got is solved.

there was some weird files there too. That I didn’t put there. So I’m guessing maybe there was a compromise of some sort? I will have to dig through all of the security settings to see if there is security issue somewhere.
