New design panel - id vs class

I really like the new design panel. But it creates a style definition for the ID of the element. This gives a problem:
I created a nice style on an element. When I select the element in design view and DUPLICATE it, it duplicates the element with a new ID. That is good of course. But therefore the styling is not duplicated, since it is bound to the ID of the first element.

I strongly request for an option to (by default) let the style panel generate style code bind to a CLASS name and not to an ID. (binding to an ID can be optional). Duplicating will be much easier, also reusing that specific brilliant styling class
