Write a comment with what you want to do, get suggestions, spend some time understanding it and move on. Then you can dig as deep as you want by looking for documentation about what just happened.

For me this is great as a pure learning resource and would be the philosophy I would adopt, as a learning aid of sorts, not as a short cut, although am sure in time some suggestions would save time, especially if they are de facto standards for inclusion of certain code.
