Dynamic Link to External Site

I need to create a link from one site to another passing a URL Parameter. I tried: <a href="https://www.mywebproject.ca/clientsurvey/{{client_random}}"> {{client_random}} is populated from a recordset on the initial project. I also tried dynamic Attribute --> Link but that didn’t work either for external links. Basically I just need to know how to pass a value to a route on a different site.
