Docker on Windows Home

Anyone have any luck installing Docker on Windows Home? I have no reason to upgrade so I’d prefer not to.

Somewhere I saw George posted instructions but they were not in English and the translation wasn’t great. I’ve searched but haven’t had much luck. Is it even worth trying?

Hello Logan,
Docker desktop doesn’t support windows home.
It requires hyper-v, which is available in windows 10 pro and enterprise.

I looked at a few options and decided to upgrade. This is one of those options https://docs.docker.com/toolbox/toolbox_install_windows/ but I would not recommend it. The other options did not work.

I am in the same boat, I really want to give docker a whirl but I don’t have any pro or higher any of my personal machines.

There are some tricks to install Docker Desktop on Windows 10 Home - if you feel adventures

Do read the whole topic.

But I suggest to get Windows 10 Pro update as easiest solution

You could also try and install linux in a secondary partition. Not the best solution if you don’t want to learn a new OS. But it’s a rather handy and free solution
