Ok, fine to hear that you found the issue. The server should have at least PHP 5.3.7 to support SSL with PDO.

The PHP version on the problematic system is 5.4.16 so that interesting again. I’ll probably just hand code the connection to MySQL for now and come back to this. I do notice that when connecting to the database from something like Sequel Pro, all I tick is the SSL box. I do not need to select any certificate but if I manually code it, I do so maybe just something that PDF requires. Either way, I’ll ask support to check the logs next week to see if anything is unusual. If I find anything, I’ll share with you.
