Hi, I am wondering how to change the basic highlight colour of bootstrap. Instead of a blue shadow, I would like to have it black.

I would start by changing the main bootstrap colours (assuming you want to). This will result in many related changes - eg highlights, gradients and shadows etc. - and you may find it’s not necessary to make additional, individual changes (though of course you can, as explained by @Hyperbytes).
