Adding a button to a table cell?

Well then what exactly do you need to do?

I have tables that list records with Edit and Delete buttons or links. Each button or link should open a modal …

Delete Modal should have a confirmation and delete record form. Edit modal should have the edit form. So each one needs to be in a Data Detail Region.

Or as in the screenshot a Details Modal to show the details of a record.

Brad I’m not following you.
What is the issue with opening a modal, using a link which you mention in your earlier post?

Now the biggest issue is you data detail regions don’t work in modals.

As for the text link to open a modal. Okay that’s fine. But it uses the onclick dynamic event. So with that used up there is no way to load the proper data into the data detail region. I have tried using mousedown with it but it doesn’t work.

In short, I give up. Maybe someday when page restrict is available I will continue to work with Wappler and give you guys access to the dashboard I’m building. But for now I can not waste more time on Wappler.

We fixed the following issues:

  • Now you can insert buttons, links etc in table cells
  • You can toggle modals (and the rest of the toggle-able stuff) using a normal non bs4 class button/link.

The fixes will be included in the update coming next week.

Beforehand, I know this topic is old. But regarding this post it’s still relevant. Right now, some actions have to be done in the DOM panel since there is no possibility to do it in the app structure. For example, I had to edit single entries of a select. The problem is, after I changed a value in the app structure of the select, it reset all my custom preferences of all elements. It’s understandable, how should Wappler ever create clean code if it left manually added preferences in it’s own components. But MAYBE, it would work somehow by integrating the DOM tree in the app structure.
Result:

  • Less clicking and switching
  • All options in the app structure
  • And maybe even prevention of collisions between custom html preferences and Wappler generated html.

Just a thought.

Just to add to the problem of the DOM panel, have a look at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGnd3GJVnUM and fast forward to 4’20", where I had to insert ‘multiple’.

Even my sexy voice can’t say DOM properly :sunglasses:

In this case, I just switch to split and add the attribute manually since it’s a lot faster. What I’d love to see is the same kind of thoughtful design as in the experimental Design panel. It provides all CSS options, yet it has a clear interface.

That's oké behind closed doors. But if @George catches you, he'll send WappPol :policewoman: onto you.

He can try
But let’s get real, in my opinion that’s one of the reasons these so called “pros” out there refuse to try out Wappler. Because they are afraid they loose control over their code. And let’s be honest, for a small part, that’s true. In Austria there is a saying: “You can’t have the egg-laying, milk-bearing woolly sow”. In other words, there is no all-purpose solution. So by choosing Wappler over traditional coding, it’s not a mere switch to another IDE, it’s an actual global decision on how you want to create your websites. And even if there is the general notion, you can do everything with Wappler, it only depends on the developer sitting in front of it, I have to say, there are things I did a lot faster with plain html and php. Don’t get me wrong, I love Wappler since it gives an average programmer like me the chance, to create complex dynamic webpages! My conclusion is, this software is still very young and it’s future is promising. And by giving us, the community, the chance to actively influence the development of Wappler we ought to make great use of it so we can increase the quality of this tool!

Where in Oz are you located? I’m in Mt Eliza, Vic.

Wow I love Australia! I’m from Salzburg in Austria I believe you read that wrong. It’s one of the most annoying things for us Austrians. Especially in the USA, many many people confuse these two VERY distinct countries!

Yep, I see it now. Sorry about that Johannes. I love Austria. Stayed in Seefeld and visited Innsbruck. Even bought lederhosen shorts. Great for partying.
